List of most popular gluten free items

House Salad

I know it may seem odd that Im including this as one of the popular dishes, since its a starter, but I have my reasons. Please continue.

This salad is absolutely delicious! And that dressings main ingredient must be crack cocaine, because I could make a meal just out of this.

Or the lemony cheesy goodness in it perfectly hits the spot for me, but either way, just YUM!

Its got Pepperoncinis, large black olives, purple onions, juice tomato slices, and zesty italian dressing. Plus you can ask your server to load it down with freshly grated Parmesan cheese as much as you want.

Gluten Free Rotini with Meat Sauce

If you have a craving for pasta, and havent been able to have any for a while because you have food sensitivities, have no fear Olive Garden has your back, er your stomach?

This pasta dish is just like what your mama made, and it comes with as much freshly grated Parm as your little heart desires.

Who says you cant eat pasta, you rebel?

Herb-Grilled Salmon

Grilled Salmon is usually a safe choice if youre looking for a gluten alternative meal, and Olive Garden is no exception to this rule. This flaky fish is seasoned to perfection and smothered in delicious herbs, and served with beautiful grill marks across the top.

Can you taste the flavor Im writing? I know Im certainly hungry.

The Chain Breaks One Major Pasta

If you don’t salt boiling water when you cook noodles, you’re in pretty prominent company: Olive Garden doesn’t either. It skips the seasoning to maintain a longer warranty on its pots, Business Insider reports.

Apparently, though, guests don’t mind the lack of salt the company just reported its best quarterly sales in years.

Items To Avoid At Olive Garden

These items all contain gluten or have a very high risk for gluten contamination:

  • All pasta contains gluten except the Rotini, so make sure that is the only type you get!
  • All salads, soups, and sides contain gluten except for the Famous House Salad and the Zuppa Toscana.
  • The Meatballs and all fried items contain gluten. So does the Crispy Chicken Fritta.

Why Isnt Olive Gardens Alfredo Sauce Gluten Free

Im not positive, but I think Olive Garden uses a roux in their sauce to make it a little thicker than normal. A roux is just a mixture of equal parts flour and fat and its used to thicken sauces. Sadly, a lot of places use roux and, therefore, we cant enjoy those sauces. If they only knew that there are other ways!

There’s An Olive Garden Cooking School In Italy

Does Olive Garden Have Gluten Free Pasta

Back in 2010, a series of Olive Garden commercials touted a picturesque Tuscan cooking school but critics and fans alike were skeptical of its authenticity. So CNN did some digging and found that the Olive Garden Culinary Institute of Tuscany is the real deal. In fact, since 1999, it’s been running authentic Italian cooking lessons for 100 of the chain’s best-performing chefs every year for 11 weeks during winter months.

What Do I Serve The Alfredo With

While alfredo is typically served with fettuccine noodles, theyre not my fave anyway so I use any other noodle. Spaghetti, penne, rotini, or any other shaped pasta that you can find gluten free will work just fine.

A couple years ago I started making Blackened Chicken Alfredo and its become a real family favorite. Using store-bought blackening seasoning, coat boneless, skinless chicken breasts and saute them for about 15-20 minutes in a little butter and/or olive oil. Slice them into thin strips and add them to a plate of alfredo pasta. You can also add sauteed broccoli and/or spinach.

If youve ever been to the Rainforest Cafe, they have this wonderful dish called Rasta Pasta. Its loaded with chicken strips, broccoli, red peppers, and spinach. The sauce is a mixture of basil pesto and alfredo sauce. If youve never tried this combo, youre in for a treat because its incredible!! Just add equal parts basil pesto and this alfredo sauce to hot pasta, toss, and serve with veggies and meat .

But pasta isnt the only thing you can serve this alfredo with! Remember those Olive Garden Style Breadsticks I made a few months back??? My absolute favorite thing to do with alfredo sauce is dip breadsticks in it!! It is SO GOOD!!!

Olive Garden Gluten Free Pasta Ingredients

We really like the Trader Joes Rice Penne Noodles for this dish but any gluten-free pasta noodle works. If you arent a penne fan, throw in some fettucini or spaghetti noodles. There is no wrong noodle! Keep in mind that gluten-free noodles dont keep as well as traditional pasta!

I like to also grill or pan fry chicken with mine but if youre looking to make the dish vegetarian, just exclude the chicken. At the end I also like to toss in some basil or spinach just a few leaves that wilt when tossed in the final dish! These are also optional. I just love the pop of color and the flavor!

And last, but not least, I love to sprinkle some Mrs. Dash Original seasoning and add some gluten-free garlic bread for dipping!

He Gave My Son Veal Dredged In Flour And A Side Of Gluten Free Pasta Cooked In The Same Water As Regular Pasta Are Restaurants Taking Gluten

This week I received an email from a member of the Gluten Free Watchdog community about a recent restaurant experience. It is printed here with permission:

I want to share with you some restaurant trends I am noticing. It seems like the gluten-free diet fad has created some real issues for those of us with Celiac or real gluten intolerance. We took my son out to dinner last weekend and he got terribly glutened. I just called the restaurant and spoke to the chef. He informed me that he assumes most people are just on a gluten free diet and that basically, that means he can ignore it. He gave my son veal dredged in flour and a side of gluten free pasta cooked in the same water as regular pasta. He was very sorry, etc. I learned two things from this. First of all, we as a community need to get the word out to restaurants that they need to take gluten free seriously. Despite the fact that a number of people follow a gluten free diet loosely for whatever reason, they cannot take a chance that the diner they are serving is one of those people. Gluten free is gluten free, period. Second, EVERY time we get glutened, we must follow through with calls to the restaurant to let them know how else will they get better? Trust me, they do not like getting these calls , so hopefully with enough of them the restaurants will start to care a little bit more.

Whats In This Gluten Free Alfredo Then

There are only 4 ingredients in this gluten free alfredo, as well as a few spices.

  • Butter a perfect beginning to anything.
  • Cream cheese the secret ingredient that brings this sauce to a whole nother level. It takes the place of the roux to thicken the sauce.
  • Heavy cream all good alfredo sauces use either heavy cream or half and half.
  • Parmigianno Regianno make sure you use the good stuff for this sauce because its all about the cheese!
  • Nutmeg just a dash of nutmeg really enhances the sauce. I put it in almost all my cream sauces.
  • Garlic Powder, Salt, & Pepper garlic powder provides a quick and easy garlic punch of flavor. However, Ive also made this sauce with roasted garlic and its TO.DIE.FOR. So if youre all about garlic in your alfredo, you can finely chop a few cloves and drop them in with the butter, or drop several cloves of roasted garlic in at the end for a flavor explosion!!
