Honey Nut Cheerios Ingredients

The original Cheerios may be the favorite in some households, but when I hear the Cheerios brand name, I immediately think of the honey nut variation. One bite, and Im brought back to Saturday morning cartoons and a big bowl of cereal.

Thankfully this flavor is also gluten-free. You can find the full list of the ingredients below.

  • Whole Grain Oats
  • Rice Bran Oil and/or Canola Oil
  • Tripotassium phosphate
  • Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice

While they have a wide range, not all are gluten-free.

None of the Oat Crunch variations are gluten-free. These include the Oat Crunch cinnamon, oat crunch almond, and oat crunch honey.

The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios, Multigrain Cheerios with Real Strawberries, and Honey Nut Cheerios Treat Bars all contain gluten.

Where To Buy Cheerios

You can buy Cheerios in almost any grocery store nationwide, especially Original Cheerios. You may have a tricky time finding some of the different flavors at your local grocery store, but you can also look for them online at places like Amazon.

Peanut Butter And Honey Cheerios Granola

This post is sponsored by Collective Bias and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

Two breakfast favorites combine into one in this Peanut Butter and Honey Cheerios Granola! The crunchy clusters of Cheerios and oats are packed with peanut butter and honey, plus a touch of cinnamon.

Every year, I tell my new group of third-grade students the story of my first day of third grade. Its not a particularly remarkable story, which is the point I want to make to them. Their stories, no matter how big or small, are important and worth telling. I write the story of myself eating breakfast on my first day of school as a way to introduce them to writing with voice and detail about the small moments in their lives.

I tell my students how I nervously sat at my familys kitchen table, slowly swirling cereal around in my bowl with my spoon. Even though my tummy was full of butterflies, I still made myself eat a little bit of breakfast. My mom said I needed something in my stomach and she also knew that breakfast needed to be something familiar and comforting. All those years ago the breakfast that made me feel just a tiny bit better on my first day of school was a bowl of Cheerios.

This Peanut Butter and Honey Cheerios Granola is such a simple recipe, too. Its made with just five ingredients and takes less than ten minutes to prep for the oven. Im sure you can imagine how wonderful your kitchen will smell as it bakes.

Notice About Gf Cheerios

General Mills Canada announced last week that five Cheerios flavours sold in Canada will carry a glutenfree claim. Original Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Multi-Grain Cheerios, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and Chocolate Cheerios will be rolled out across the country in August. The Canadian Celiac Association held a conference call with representatives of General Mills Canada and General Mills US on August 2nd 2016 to discuss our concerns with the gluten-free label on these products.

General Mills Retools Americas Beloved Cereal

In late July, youll find an exciting new product on supermarket shelvesgluten-free Cheerios. Youll know its arrived when you see the Simply Made Gluten Free logo on the lower right of the box. At this point, only a gluten-free version will be sold, so therell be no confusion about picking up the right box.

Cheerios top five sellers are now gluten-freethe iconic Original , Honey Nut, Frosted, Apple Cinnamon and Multigrain. The price hasnt change and neither has the size of the box. The formulas also stay the same, except that sorghum and millet replace wheat and barley in Multigrain. Original Cheerios is also GMO free.

So why did General Mills make the switch to gluten-free? We found out firsthand when food editor Beth Hillson attended General Mills Cheerios Summit in Minneapolis. During the two-day visit, General Mills production folks, engineers, marketing people and COO explained how they moved Cheerios to the gluten-free side of the cereal aisle.

Its All About Oats
Why Did General Mills Do This?

General Mills decision to make Cheerios gluten-free came after the FDA announced its gluten-free labeling standard of less than 20 ppm, says Jeff Harmening, COO of General Mills U.S. Retail. We knew we could achieve that and more.

Ccas Position On The Safety Of Oats

Gluten-Free Apple Cinnamon Cheerios Crisp Recipe Review

The CCA relies on advice from our Professional Advisory Council and other scientific experts for recommendations on the safety of oats for people with celiac disease. The PAC Position statement on consumption of oats by individuals with celiac disease indicates the need for evidence-based, peer reviewed, published data that demonstrates the levels of gluten in oats that have been cleaned using mechanical and/or optical sorting procedures .

There are three product brands currently on the market made with gluten-free oats that are manufactured in facilities certified by the CCAs Gluten-Free Certification Program :

Holy Crap Plus Gluten Free Oats

Quaker Oats

These companies have demonstrated to independent parties, trained GFCP auditors and GFCP technical personnel, that both their processed oats and finished products meet Health Canadas standard for gluten free and are safe for individuals with celiac disease.

Why Is The Cca Concerned

Oats are a naturally gluten-free grain however, it has been documented that oats are frequently cross contaminated with gluten-containing grains, especially barley and wheat. Health Canada scientists have tested commercial oat samples and found high levels of gluten contamination . Cross contamination can occur because oats often are grown in rotation with other crops, harvested and transported with equipment that is also used for gluten-containing grains.

We know the following:

1. Oats are an extremely high risk grain and even gluten-free oats are at high risk for gluten contamination.

2. It is very difficult to remove gluten-containing grains from oats using optical and mechanical technology alone because barley and wheat are similar in size, shape and color as oats. Broken kernels present in the grain also add to the sorting challenge.

3. General Mills is using a cleaning system that they developed based on mechanical sorting to remove barley and wheat from regular commercial oats.
