Atkins: Smores Bar, Lemon Bar & Birthday Cake Bar Review

Another quick off-the-shelf product in the books. As with the others, it fails to hit the mark for me.

That is not to say that if used as instructed, in conjunction with its other products, it cant do what it claims, which is to provide a path for weight loss. It fails to suppress appetite or offer the nutrients your body needs, in contrast to a shake like Complete, from Impact Knockout.

However, I do think the shakes need an overhaul, and the bars need more low/no allergen options. The shakes contain too many ingredients you would not want and not enough that you would. It is also a high allergen product, containing both milk and soy.

As far as the taste goes, this is the first product Ive had in which vanilla was the worst flavor, and almost undrinkable.

Besides, the bars were a mixed bag, one was great, one was gross. But the fact that out of 13 flavors, I could only eat 3 or 4 is an issue worth addressing. They should seek out protein sources that are more widely consumable. Of course, they can still have some flavors with peanuts or tree nuts, but that seems to be lions share as of now.

Ultimately, if weight loss is your goal, I think there are better options available, even from your local store. I would recommend looking at Diet Meal Extreme or HLTH Complete meal if you are looking for a keto-friendly shake.

Too many shortcomings to recommend.

Follow the package directions while being mindful that microwave ovens do vary and can cook unevenly which can result in cold spot where bacteria can survive. Overcooking can cause the food to become tough or rubbery. We suggest cooking at the minimum amount of time, then heating in 30 second increments until the meal is heated through.

Are Atkins Protein Bars Keto Friendly

These are the bars that you see in advertisements for people who have recently lost weight, but the advertisements dont always tell the whole story. They may say that the product is low carb and therefore will help you lose weight, but the problem is that people who are actually on the Atkins program arent losing any weight at all. So while you may lose weight, its mostly water and glycogen instead of fat.

This diet is based on the theory that if you lower your intake of carbohydrates, your body will use protein as a source of energy. This in turn will allow you to increase the production of lean muscle tissue so that you can lose the excess weight.6

So the real question here is, are Atkins protein bars keto-friendly? Its hard to say because although the product has low carbohydrate ingredients, some of the protein in these products is not the sort of protein your body needs for weight loss.

One thing that is true is that this diet does burn off fat and this is one of its advantages. However, its not a miracle diet that works by itself. You need to be active and get regular physical activity in order to lose the excess weight you are carrying. This isnt a quick-fix weight loss program. In fact, you need to be disciplined and stick with the program even when you are tired or when your body just needs to rest and recover from the intense exercise.

  • A 9×9 pan is the better option for the cook time outlined. If using an 8×8 pan, you may need to add about 10 minutes to the bake time.
  • Wait at least an hour to cut into the bars after baking so that they have time to set up. We like to let them cool for a few hours. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes in the pan, then remove from the pan using parchment paper and allow to cool on a cooling rack.
  • Salting the cookie bars right after they come out of the oven will help them stick to the melted chocolate.
  • We like to drop the pan of cookie bars onto a cutting board right after they have cooked to help them deflate faster, and to give some nice cracks and texture in the top.
  • Warm, melted butter will actually help dissolve the sweetener in this case. We will have plenty of time spent creaming together the butter and sweetener so that the butter wont be too hot when we add in the eggs.
  • Room temperature cream cheese and eggs will create the best results. This is important for all baked goods to avoid eggs from scrambling or butter from seizing .

How To Make Homemade Low Carb Protein Bars

This recipe is so easy to make, you may never buy protein bars from the store again.

First, we combine most the ingredients in the food processor:

  • Add the whey protein, sweeteners, shredded coconut, and almond butter to your food processor.
  • Melt the coconut oil, then stir in the sea salt and vanilla.
  • Pour the coconut oil mixture into the food processor.
  • Process the ingredients until they start to form a ball of dough.
  • Then, we stir in the final ingredients and let the protein bars set:

  • With a rubber spatula, stir in the sunflower seeds and chocolate chips .
  • Line a 7×11 pan with parchment paper. This will make it much easier to transfer the bars out of the pan and slice them later.
  • Transfer the dough into the pan. Using a rubber spatula, spread the dough into an even layer.
  • Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least an hour to set.
  • After an hour, your low carb protein bars will be ready!

    I recommend lifting the mixture out of the pan and then cutting the bars on the parchment paper. That way, they wont stick to the cutting board. I cut mine into 15 squares.

    How To Make Keto Chocolate Coconut Bars

    Start by greasing a 12-count brownie pan or square pan and set aside. Then, youll mix together your coconut flakes, coconut oil, and maple syrup, until combined. Lightly wet your hands and place the mixture into the brownie pan/pan of choice. Freeze it for around 30 minutes, before melting the chocolate. Using two forks, dip the coconut bars in the melted chocolate until completely covered. Place on a lined plate and refrigerate until the chocolate has firmed up.

    How To Make Keto Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars:

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9 pan, then line with parchment. In a large bowl, cream together sweetener and warm butter with a hand mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

    Add in cream cheese and vanilla extract, and continue mixing together until there are no lumps of cream cheese, about another 3-5 minutes. Add in eggs one at a time until completely incorporated, but dont over mix.

    In a separate bowl, whisk together almond flour, coconut flour, salt, baking soda, and xanthan gum. Combine the wet and the dry ingredients, folding together the batter with a rubber spatula. Dont over mix.

    Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for the top. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top to even it out. Press in the remaining chocolate chips all over the top.

    Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean, and the edges are lightly browned. Sprinkle with flakey sea salt, and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, before transferring to a wire cooling rack for at least 1 hour before cutting and serving.

    After bars have cooled, cut in and serve!

    My kids play a lot of sports. That means that were often on the run, so they eat a lot of protein bars.

    And of course, each kid has his or her own favorite variety of bar. But all those packaged protein bars have one thing in common: theyre crazy expensive.

    This recipe for homemade protein bars started out as something I was just making for my family, and that was that. After much hesitation, I had finally purchased some Vega Essentials protein powder.

    I mean, they even sell protein powder at CVS now! I could use a coupon! I was just playing around with it.

    Thats the kind of experimenting I rarely get to do anymore, where I just throw a bit of this and a bit of that into a recipe. Very few notes, even fewer apologies.
